Abstract
The full balance and harmony of the external organs of the body are essential organ for the beauty of the human form in both sexes. It needs no emphasis that a deficient ear lobe needs a tolerable reconstruciton without leaving scars or marks of surgery behind.
Fortunately, , pioneer surgeons such as Kirkham, Gillies, Pierce, Webster, and Aufricht laid the ground rules for ear reconstruction. More recently, Cronine, Musgrave, Converse, Rubin, and Tanzer, have refindand extended the techniques-thus renewing the interests of many of their colleagues in finding better surgical methods.
The ear reconstruction is effected in 3 stages combined in 2 operations. First stage: outlining the position of the new ear: removal and modelling of the cartilage. Second stage: rotation of the mal¡þpositioned lobe and embedding of the modelled cartillagenous framework through the same incision (1st operation). Third stage: undermining the ear from the skull covering theraw area with asplit¡þthickness skin graft (2nd operation).
Authors report a case of reconstrouction for the traumatic partial ear loss treated successfully in Medical College of Korea University.
